New Events for 2022!

December 27, 2021

The new year is fast approaching, and so more amazing events at the Athenaeum. In fact, along with our successful and continuing recurring events, we’re adding even more! While this is not an exhaustive list of everything that we will be adding to our roster, this post features a new recurring event for all age levels plus a new video feature. To explore our full event calendar, click on this link.

New for Children!

We are happy to be partnering with the local CFCE to bring you even more story times! In addition to our once a month recorded and live story times with Ms. Mary of the Children’s Department, the CFCE’s Ms. Angela will be running two story times in January as well. In January, Ms. Angela’s story times will be on January 4th and January 18th at 10 AM. You can also sign up to get a link to a recorded story time from Ms. Mary on January 13th at 10:30 AM (to watch at your leisure) or attend another in-person story time with Ms. Mary on January 27th at 10:30 AM. Check back every month for new dates and times. Registration is required.

New for Teens!

Our teen events have been filling at a fantastic rate, and we’re so proud of Teen Librarian Tina for continuing to go above and beyond to add even more. Starting in January, we will be adding Teen Movie Nights to the mix! Our first will be on January 19th at 5:45 PM in the Lang Auditorium. There will be popcorn and candy, and the movie of the night is Clueless! Registration is required.

New for Adults!

Are you ready to start writing your family history? Or maybe you’re stuck with a mountain of research and aren’t sure what to do next? Join this monthly group of fellow genealogy fans to discuss problems and solutions, get writing tips and ideas, explore the thornier issues brought up by family histories, and more. This group is co-led by the library’s Digital Services and Local History librarians, who are both experienced with genealogy research and nonfiction creative writing. The first meeting will be on January 26th at 6:30 PM. Registration is required.

New Video Feature!

Always wished you could attend our Lite Lunch Cookbook Book Club but never had the chance? Well, now ringleader (and Outreach Services Librarian) Becky is bringing the cookbooks to you. We will be reviewing cookbooks once a month and sharing some of our favorite recipes on our Facebook and YouTube channels. This programming is part of our “At the Table, In the Garden” LSTA grant, received from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. We are so excited to bring you more from this grant in the new year!
