Little Book Bites: Graphic Novels

November 22, 2021

One of the most popular genres in the Children’s Library is Graphic Novels/Comics. Our  beginning readers can now enjoy the world of graphic novel storytelling too. Many publishers are now producing series of graphic novels that will appeal to most emerging readers. Here are a few of the titles that can be found on our shelves. All hyperlinks will take you to the catalog if you would like to request a few and try them out!

Beak & Ally is a brand-new early reader graphic novel series about finding friendship in unexpected places! This is a fun and funny buddy comedy perfect for emerging readers, and all kids who love comics.

Beak & Ally Unlikely Friends

Ally the alligator is perfectly happy being alone . . . until one day a noisy bird named Beak lands on her snout.

Beak thinks Ally is lonely and needs a friend. He has all sorts of friendship goals in mind, like riding bikes together, going to the movies together, and even solving mysteries together! But when a Long-Billed Party Pooper crashes Beak’s nest-warming party, Ally decides to show Beak something important to her: sticking up for what’s right.

Beak and Ally Bedtime Jitters

Beak & Ally are back, and they’ve got some bedtime jitters! Late at night, the swamp is full of weird noises . . . spooky noises! Like the GUURNT GUURNT! of the horrible Grunty Beast, the CHH CHH CHH CHH of the chilling Chatter Ghosts, and the ZZUMP ZZUMP of the mechanical Zump Monster!

How’s Beak the bird supposed to get any rest with all these strange sounds sounding off around him? Thankfully, Ally the alligator has some good ideas about where all the racket is coming from.

FriendBots: Blink and Block Bug Each Other

This time, Block is drawing in the park, but Blink wants to play. So much, in fact, that Blink can’t stop pressing Block’s buttons . . . literally. Blink is silly and Block is logical, and they’re best when they’re together! Whether they’re searching for treasure, playing pretend, or learning to compromise, Blink’s imagination and Block’s clever ideas turn any ordinary day into the most fun ever.
