Now that summer’s in full swing, you may be looking forward to a trip to see some art, experience history, or to visit a park. Well, the good news is that the Athenaeum can help with that, as we are in the process of rebuilding our collection of museum passes after last year’s pandemic shutdown.
These passes offer discounts or free admission, depending on the pass. They are a great way to help you and your family or friends experience new or favorite local attractions.
Currently, we have the following passes available:
- Amelia Park Children’s Museum – Half price admission for up to four people.
- Annual Parks Pass – Free parking for one personal vehicle at over 50 day-use facilities in the Massachusetts State Parks system that charge a parking fee.
- Eric Carle Museum – Free admission for up to two adults and four children.
- Holyoke Children’s Museum – Half price admission for up to six people.
- Holyoke Merry-Go-Round – Two free ride tickets for up to three people.
- MASS MoCA – Free admission for up to two adults and two children.
- Norman Rockwell Museum – Discounted admission of $10 each for up to two people.
- Old Sturbridge Village – Half-price daytime admission for up to four people.
- Pioneer Valley Symphony – Two free tickets per family (use code LIBR83 to purchase tickets online)
- Springfield Museums – Buy one full price admission and receive a 50% discount on the second admission.
- Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute – Free admission for one adult.
- USS Constitution Museum – Free admission for up to nine people.
- The Zoo in Forest Park & Education Center – Free admission for up to five people. Does not include Forest Park parking fee.
To borrow a pass, bring your CW-MARS library card to the Reference Desk whenever the library is open. If you have a Westfield library card, you can call us at (413) 568-7833 to reserve a pass up to a month in advance. Otherwise, passes are available on a first come, first served basis.
In the future, we plan to also offer passes for: Amelia Park Children’s Museum, Children’s Museum at Holyoke and Heritage State Park, Connecticut Trolley Museum, Eric Carle Museum, Mass MOCA, Springfield Museums, and Wistariahurst. These passes are on order and we will let everyone know as soon as they’re available!
The fine print:
- Passes are generally checked out for one day and must be returned before the library opens the next day.
- If you are traveling overnight, we may be able to extend the loan period. Please ask at the time of reserving or checking out the pass.
- Overdue passes incur a $10 per day late fee.
- Please don’t return museum passes to other libraries.
Also, it’s important to note that some museums may have new or different rules in place related to preventing the spread of COVID-19. Be sure to contact the organization before you visit if you have any questions about their policies.
Many thanks to the Friends of the Westfield Athenaeum for funding this program!
