Children’s Library

The Children’s Library at the Westfield Athenaeum contains everything children and their caregivers will need for entertainment and education.  Our library provides plenty of space for children to play, do homework, and explore.

Everyone is welcome to browse and use the Children’s Library. Seating in the Children’s Library is for children 10 years of age and younger in the company of a caregiver. For more information, please see our Children’s Library Policy.

Our collections include:

  • Books, including board books, picture books, early readers, chapter books, graphic novels, nonfiction, and parenting books
  • Audio Books including Yoto Miniplayers and Wonderbooks.  Wonderbooks combine a print book with an audiobook.
  • DVDs
  • Video Games
  • Music CDs
  • Learning Kits
  • Lots of items in our Library of Things, including: board games, puppets, puzzles, and toys.

Technology

The Children’s Library has three computers available for public use.  These computers are reserved for children 10 years of age and younger.  A Westfield Athenaeum library card is not needed to use the computers.

Computer privileges allow access to the Internet. Parents and guardians should know that the Westfield Athenaeum does not employ Internet filtering software on its public Internet access computers. Parents, who wish to accompany their child while the child uses the computer, may do so. For more information, please see our Children’s Computer Use Policy.
