Educators

The Children’s and Teen’s Library at the Westfield Athenaeum is also here to serve educators, including homeschooled families.  We have a variety of services that can assist you in the classroom or at home.

Collections

Learning Kits – These kits contain everything you need to teach a certain subject.  The educational kits are best suited for children in grades preschool through about 2nd grade.

Parenting and education books – This collection has a wide variety of books on different ways to educate children.  This collection is located in the Children’s Library.

Nonfiction Books – Our nonfiction collection covers most subject areas and all reading levels.  The Teen Library’s nonfiction collection contains many comprehensive subject help books as well as test preparation books.

Services

The Youth Services staff is more than happy to help you locate books and materials for your lesson plan.  Please visit us at the Children’s Library desk, give us a call, or send an email to hhicks@westath.org.  If you have a list of books that you are requiring your students to read, please send it to us!  This will allow us to have extra copies on hand.

We also offer library tours to educators, including homeschooled families.  The tour includes information about the library, our different collections, and an introduction to our librarians.  We can also include a tour of our historical museum, the Edwin Smith Historical Museum.  If you are interested in having a tour of the Westfield Athenaeum, please fill out this form.

If you are interested in getting library cards for your students, we can do that too! Please fill out this form and we will be happy to share the details.
