Homebound Delivery

The Westfield Athenaeum offers outreach services for patrons living in Westfield who are unable to get to the Library. Whether you are recovering from surgery, lack transportation or some other reason we will bring books, movies, music, magazines to you!

How does this work?

You can start by calling our Outreach Librarian at 413-568-7833 x 111. They will talk to you about what you like to read, or watch or listen to (or all three) to determine what and how much to bring you every month.  Then you will start to receive deliveries to your home once a month. You can work with the librarian to personalize your order, we can get almost anything for you!

On delivery day you will receive a call giving you a one hour window in which your order will arrive. You can leave anything you are ready to return in your delivery spot and the librarian will return it for you. If you would like to keep an item until the next month it will be renewed. You will not be charged overdue fines as a Homebound patron.

What if I don’t have a library card?

No problem! Our Outreach Librarian will fill out the application during your initial conversation and bring your new card to you during your first delivery, and it’s free!

How do I request an item?

You can call 413-568-7833 ext 111 or email shorne@westath.org and your hold will be placed.

What can I get?

Books, audiobooks, magazines, puzzles, music CDs and DVDs.

Is this a free service?

Yes! You will not receive overdue fines either. However, lost or damaged items will still be charged to the patron as usual.

How long can I use this service?

You are welcome to receive deliveries as long as you need or want them!
